Infrastructure work is delayed due to damp ground from excess water at 5m depth. As a temporary fix, two splice boxes are being installed, and a fiber cable will be pulled to restore impacted links. Fiber splicing is planned for 16:00 GMT, 29/11/2024.

Fault location has been cleaned, and floodwaters have been removed. Infrastructure work for manholes and ducts is progressing, expected to complete by 14:00 GMT, 29/11/2024, followed by cable pulling. Fiber splicing is estimated to start by 16:00 GMT, 29/11/2024. Service restoration will commence from 20:00 GMT.

Fiber team has assessed the fault location, and the area is expected to be cleaned and ready at 13:00 GMT. the construction company will install 6 ducts The manholes and cables are ready to be transported to the site and expected to be installed by 12:00 GMT prove the 9 ducts, followed by cable installation, is expected to start by 14:00 GMT. Infrastructure testing being prepared at the manhole on the extremity of the affected area.

The fiber team has updated that two fiber cables, one with 120 fibers and the other with 48 fibers, were completely damaged during drilling work for gas pipeline installation. Water used for cooling during the drilling has filled the trench and holes. The construction company will complete the digging and remove the water in the morning. As a result, the exact damage to the ducts cannot be identified at this time. Access permissions are expected to be granted after this work is completed

The fiber teams need to dig new trench, lay new ducts, pull new fiber cable, and install new manholes, joint boxes and then splice the fibers to restore the fault. Currently, the teams are on-site conducting a survey to determine the best locations for the new manholes at the break location. However, they cannot begin the restoration work yet because local authorities have restricted access to the site due to health and safety concerns. The work is expected to start tomorrow morning once access is granted.

Cables have been impacted by local authorities during gas pipe installation, damaging approximately 150 meters of the trench. Water used for cooling their boring tool has filled the trench. Access is restricted until their work is complete, expected by tomorrow morning, after which ducts will be reinstalled for re-cabling. Crews on-site are assessing new manhole locations to expedite repairs once access is granted.

A suspected fiber disturbance is impacting Transport services between Zurich, Switzerland and Milan, Italy. Fiber team has been engaged to further isolate the fault, estimated time for arrival is awaited.
